Since 1852, Steingraeber has produced pianos in very limited numbers from their factory in Bayreuth, Germany and as such, are seen as the piano world’s best-kept secret. The exclusivity of Steingraeber has caught the eye of many artists and musicians throughout the years and have become the choice of many famous names. Hungarian composer Franz Liszt is arguably one of the most notable owners of a Steingraeber, with his very last piano being a Grand Piano Model 205, known today as a C-212.
Steingraeber is noted for their incredibly high-quality workmanship, with each instrument being carefully crafted by sixth-generation family member Udo Schmidt-Steingraeber and his highly talented team. Since 1980, Udo has been the head of the firm, and his team has been responsible for a number of piano innovations. The most notable is the optimal SFM’ grand feel’ action on their uprights and the unique pedalling system for players who used wheelchairs.
Steingraeber’s exquisite instruments are considered among the finest pianos in the world, with even one of their used piano being incredibly sought after.

Steingraeber A170 Grand Piano
As Steingraeber smallest grand piano, this model is often referred to as a baby grand, but it is anything but small in sound. This coveted model has numerous best in its class awards that celebrate its powerful and distinguished sound that is much bigger than the instrument looks.
The design roots of the A170 can be traced all the way back to 1905, and since this time, it has been honed and developed into the masterpiece we see today. Throughout the years, the Steingraeber team have worked to create the unusually wide shape on the A170 to allow for longer bass strings that can transmit vibrational energy just like a concert grand. Additionally, its unique bass bridge design developed by the Steingraeber team has allowed this smaller model to not sound as metallic or thin as its baby grand counterparts.
The A170 is the perfect model for beginners or professional pianists, which is why you will often find it in both music schools and on stage- particularly where there is limited space.
