Paula Downes and David Trippett are scheduled to perform at St Mary Magdalene’s Church as part of the Markson Pianos 2017 Concert Series on Wednesday September 27th at 7pm. Paula has received praise from various high-profile publications over the years and been complimented for her ‘fine upper register’, ‘affectingly plangent tone’, ‘immaculate intonation’ and the ‘cool beauty of her voice’.
Paula was a Choral Scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge and has performed as part of ensembles such as The Sixteen and Philharmonia Voices as well as showcasing her talents as a soloist as part of various choral societies, orchestras and opera companies. She has performed at a host of prestigious venues including St John’s, London; King’s Chapel, Cambridge; St Edmundsbury Cathedral and Paris’ La Madeleine. As a recitalist, Paula has performed at venues such as Harvard University; Cambridge’s Fitzwilliam Museum and the National Portrait Gallery in London.
David Trippett has performed in venues across the UK, Germany, Italy and the east and west coasts of the USA. He is Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Music, University of Cambridge and studied at the Hochschule für Music und Theater, Leipzig. He has also appeared at the Britten-Pears festival and Georg Solti Accademia and was a John Lill International Piano Competition finalist.
The programme will feature Andrew Downe’s Old Love’s Domain, Sonatina for Piano and Songs from Spoon River. Old Love’s Domain will feature poetry from Thomas Hardy, whilst Songs from Spoon River will include the poetry of Edgar Lee Masters.
Also coming up as part of the Markson Pianos 2017 Concert Series are pianist John Bailey on July 26th, Markson Piano’s Composer in Residence Lola Perrin on October 25th and Olga Jegunova on November 29th.

About the Markson Concert Series
The Markson Concert Series is now in its eighth year, having been launched in 2010. The Series sees Concert Grands and various other performances being showcased at Camden’s St Mary Magdalene Church.
