It is that heady mix of German engineering, craftsmanship and attention to detail that makes Bechstein pianos unique in the world of piano making.
At Bechstein, a highly trained and experienced team of engineers, wood technicians, concert tuners and voicing specialists work closely to produce an instrument that is truly world class. The combination of traditional skills with state of the art engineering and technology is what makes Bechstein pianos stand out from the crowd and loved by so many professional piano teachers and concert hall players.
Using leasing-edge CNC machines, the basic parts of Bechstein upright and grand pianos are manufactured to precise detail. Then with pin point accuracy, holes are drilled in exactly the right places in the cast iron frames and the exquisite wood of the piano is sawn and milled to perfection.
It is then time for the human touch. Voicing specialists and concert tuners put the soul into the pianos by voicing the hammers by hand and ear and exercising their judgement so each piano is finely tuned, well balanced and ready to be heard.
Bechstein have a proud tradition of producing word class pianos and many of their workforce have worked with them for decades, passing their expertise on from one generation to the next.
Bechstein takes their heritage of fine piano making very seriously and they are passionate about producing pianos that incorporate the values of German craftsmanship, engineering and historic piano making. Bechstein pianos are not mass produced and that is very much their ethos and what makes them so special.
