On a recent trip to Baden Baden, Germany, Julian and Simon Markson were invited along with other European dealers for a first glimpse at the new Bösendorfer 280 Vienna concert grand. With 5 years in development and as many different prototypes, the aim was to maintain the traditions of Bösendorfer whilst creating a piano for the 21st century. They have succeeded!
We enjoyed a performance in our hotel by pianist Aleksandra Mikulska on the Bösendorfer 214 which enthralled the audience, followed by a talk on the technical aspects of the construction of the new Bösendorfer concert grand.
In the evening we were invited to a concert at the Festpielhaus Festival hall to hear Sir András Schiff play on his own personal new Bösendorfer 280 Vienna concert grand. In Sir András Schiff’s after dinner speech he enthused over the new grand with its rich resonance and dynamic possibilities, stating “all musical instruments try to imitate the human voice, providing an extension of the artists imagination, capturing the mood of the artist”. “Congratulations, I have always been a friend of Bösendorfer but with this instrument you will win many new friends”.
